Biography


Aoife Barrett graduated with a BA Honors Degree in Fine Art Printmaking from Limerick School of Art and Design (2010).  She also holds a BA Honors Degree in Archaeology from the University College Cork (2006).

Although a recent graduate Aoife has already demonstrated through her awards and achievements, her commitment towards developing a long term career in visual art.  She has used the funds gained form  these awards to further help her artistic career and develop her practice. 

Aoife has exhibited in a solo show in Co. Tipperary, Remain In Light (April-May 2012) and Cork city, Lost and Found (Sep 2011) as well as numerous group shows including Cork Art Trail (Nov 2012),  A4 Printmakers, Cornwall (2011) The Woman Factor, The Back Loft Dublin (2011), Impressions, Galway Arts Centre, Galway (2010), The RDS Student Art Awards, Dublin (2010) and Limerick Printmakers Print Exhibition, Limerick Printmakers (2010).

She has been the recipient of many awards and bursaries in recent years including the Arts Council Travel and Training Award (2011), South Tipperary Emerging Artist Award (2011), Dartmoor Arts Project, Bursary Award (2011), Cork Printmakers Twelve Month Bursary (2010), Fine Art Travel Bursary, Horwath Bastow Charleton, Limerick (2010), RDS Printmaking Award (shared) (2010). 

As a member of the Cork Printmakers and Backwater Artists' Group she has been hugely involved in the Arts in Cork. 

She has been involved in organising and curating exhibitions and local events such as the Cashel Art Trail for the European Culture Festival (2011), Cashel Art Trail (2009) and Paper, Scissors, Stone, LSAD, third year print exhibiton (2009).
